“Hair gets lighter. Skin gets darker. Water gets warmer. Drinks get colder . Music gets louder. Nights get longer. Life gets better” – Unknown
My obsession with swimwear doesn’t discriminate against the seasons and as exciting as it is that summer is upon us, it’s time to come clean and admit I’ve actually been having a spring fling with Moontide’s new 2015/16 range of bikini’s and one-piece swimsuits for quite some time!
Hailing from Auckland, New Zealand, Moontide has been an established entity in the global swimwear market for over 35 years and is now represented in more than 50 countries worldwide. Moontide’s passion for swimwear is prevalent in their fashion-forward designs, the perfect fit of their garments and the beautiful quality fabrics they source from around the world to create their stunning works of art.
Swimwear has evolved over the years and become a fashion statement in its own right. Who else can put up their hand and say they’ve swapped out bras and worn bikini tops underneath their crochet tops, or teamed up a one-piece with denim shorts? I do this all the time and this is the sort of versatility I love when it comes to swimwear, not only is it interchangeable with other items and accessories in my wardrobe, but it also succeeds in doing what it’s supposed to, and that’s make me feel good wearing it.
Moontide offers unique and colourful designs sure to make you stand out this summer. The range features swimsuits with a little flounce in fabric, a perfect way to both disguise and enhance your assets whilst providing a little romantic movement. Retro styles are also back and Moontide has teamed up high-waisted bottoms with a sportier, more masculine shaped bikini top in a range of graphic motifs and nautical stripes. Make a contrasting statement in monochrome, or if you’d prefer to remain a little more demure, but definitely no wallflower, Moontide’s new one-piece featuring mesh sleeves in classic black or an edgy stripe may be for you.
Black trims contrasts the vibrant, energetic fabrics making sure the overall effect is both bold and eye-catching. Necklines are high meaning when you’re frolicking on the beach doing handstands and creating Instagram works-of-art, you won’t need to worry about your feminine curves rearranging themselves out of position! That’s fashion, functionality and fun all rolled into one.
And fun is exactly what was had when I teamed up with photographer’s Benita Jensen and Steve Wall to shoot the swimsuits for this piece. Both photoshoots are in complete contrast to each other, but both also capture the essence of Moontide’s designs; beauty, colour and class. Working alongside Benita was Rhys Farmer, hair and makeup artist extraordinaire and as a team we created visual artistry showcasing the swimsuits in a high-end glam and edgy light, whilst Steve easily captures just how you can stand out at the beach this summer.
