Finding a dress to wear to my girlfriend’s wedding is proving to be a harder task than anticipated. In theory it’s a simple process right? Jump online, choose a dress, pick a size and voilà, within a few days the dress arrives and Cinderella is ready to go to the ball. Well props to me as I successfully managed step one, but that’s as far as I got…Enter Zhivago, an Australian fashion label co-created by friends Lara Kovacevich and Lydia Tsvetnenko, widely acclaimed for their alluring red carpet gowns and tailored ready-to-wear collections. Coincidentally they’re also the creators of every breathtaking ensemble I add to my online boutique ‘basket’, ensuring the high probability I’ll make more dress changes on the wedding day than the bride.
This week i received an invite to a birthday soirée, which meant ditching the sneakers in favour of a dress. But like most girls, although I have a closet full of clothes, I very rarely have anything to wear. So I paid a visit to my favourite Sydney boutique, Something Nice to scope out their selection of cocktail dresses. From the moment I set foot in the door the frontrunner was clear, hanging on the wall was a stunning rose colour, asymmetrically cut dress with a daring padded statement shoulder. The designer needing no introduction as the stalker in me recognised straight away it was the Zhivago FOLLOW ME dress, and not one to disobey orders I did what I was told and followed the dress all the way to the checkout.
The stretch jersey midi with a split up the back is easy to move in and partially lined. It has an exposed back zipper detail along with quilted contrast satin detail outlining the waist and hips.
I paired the dress with a statement pair of Stones of Atlantis drop earrings embellished with genuine Swarovski crystals in a mix of rose gold and silver tones.
